Your Data, Clearly Explained

1. What We Collect

When you activate your Fan Ring, we collect and store:

• Profile data: Nickname, city, team selection, personal slogan, and social media handles you choose to add (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter/X). All fields are optional except nickname.
• Ring tap events: Each time your ring is tapped, we record a tap event (timestamp, approximate source — NFC or link share). We do not record the identity of visitors who tap your ring.
• Check-in records: The name and date of events or moments you manually check into. No location data is stored unless you explicitly share GPS.
• GPS location: Only if you tap "Share my location" in the Connections tab. Used to find nearby fans. Stored temporarily (6-hour window) for the nearby search feature only.
• Match predictions: Your predicted scores for football matches, linked to your fan profile.
• Latest moment photo: The most recent fan card photo you share via the app. Stored as a compressed JPEG on our server and shown on your public fan card.
• Push notification subscription: If you enable notifications, we store a push token to send goal alerts for your team. We do not use this for marketing.
• Engagement metrics: Counts of taps, check-ins, shares, and connections — used for the leaderboard and badge system only.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• Your real name, email address, or phone number
• Payment information (handled entirely by Shopify — we only receive order confirmation)
• Cookies or cross-site tracking identifiers
• Device fingerprints or advertising IDs
• The identities of people who tap or view your ring (visitor views are anonymous to us)
• Historical location data beyond the 6-hour nearby-fan window

3. How Your Data is Stored

All data is stored in a SQLite database on our server. Your fan profile is identified by a randomly generated ID (not linked to your name or email). Moment photos older than your most recent upload are stored only on your device (browser localStorage) — we cannot access them.

Your 4-digit ring PIN is stored as plain text. Do not use a PIN you use elsewhere. It is used solely to verify ring ownership on a new device.

4. What is Public on Your Fan Card

The following fields are visible to anyone who taps your ring or opens your ring link:

• Nickname, fan number, team, city, slogan
• Social media handles you added (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, etc.)
• Badges you've earned
• Engagement stats (check-in count, matchday count, points)
• Your latest moment photo (if you've shared one)
• Recent check-in event names

You control what goes in your profile. Leave any field blank to keep it private.

5. Third-Party Services

• Shopify: Used to process ring purchases. We receive basic order information (no card details). Shopify's privacy policy governs checkout data.
• football-data.org: Used to fetch live match scores and fixtures. Your identity is not shared with this service — we make server-side API calls only.
• Push notification delivery: Uses the Web Push standard via your browser/OS push service (Apple APNs for iOS, Google FCM for Android). Only your push token is stored; no personal data is transmitted to these services beyond what your browser sends natively.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your fan profile and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your profile, check-in records, predictions, badges, and moment photo within 7 days.

Because profiles use random IDs and no email address, we will ask you to provide your ring code (visible in your ring's URL, e.g. /r/ABC123) to identify your account.

7. Children

Fan Ring is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child's data has been submitted, contact us for immediate deletion.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of Fan Ring after changes constitutes acceptance.
